【へっぽこ英会話５Months①】子供の日。男の子のお祝いの日。
子どもの日は、なんで男の子だけのお祝いなのか？と英語圏のネイティブ講師に尋ねられたけど、答えられなかった。
一方で、男の子の日と、女の子の日が別れていて良いねと言う講師もいた。
３０数年生きてきたけれど、子どもの日について、そこまで深く考えたことがなかったので、英語で話してみたことによって、自分の視野が広がった気がした。
今回は、子どもの日について。
※英語圏のネイティブ講師に訂正されたところは太字にしてある。
I want to talk about a Japanese event.
This event is called ”Children's day”.
It's held on May 5th.
Today is the second.
So in three days we will celebrate children's day.
That is festival only for boy's.
The girl's festival is a different day.
The family who have son's celebrate the festival.
男の子のお祝いの日です。
It means we wish him good health and a long life.
We usually display the doll .
All bad things go into the doll.
This doll is a boy.
When my son was born , my mother bought the doll for him.
When my mother went to the doll shop, she took a lot of pictures and send me a message.
So I chose it quickly because the doll looks like my son.
人形を飾ります。
息子が生まれたときに母が買ってくれました。
人形屋さんでたくさん写真を撮って送ってくれたので、私が選びました。
人形が息子に似ていたのですぐに決められました。
The doll is wearing the helmet and holding a spear.
A long time ago, when the soldiers went to the war, they wear the helmet and use a spear.
That is boys symbol.
男の子のシンボルです。
Mailman delivered to my house.
There was a doll and a flag.
The doll was the size I had imagined.
The flag design was carp streamer.
The carp is a symbol of strength and success.
So we have to put the doll away right after the event.
想像していた通りの大きさでした。
旗は、鯉のぼりのデザインです。
鯉は、強さと成功の象徴です。
イベントが終わったら、すぐに片づけなければ、なりません。
