for 3 years at RTBHouse

Good morning, everyone.

As the title says, I will be graduating from RTBHouse in February 2018 after working there for 3 years and 2 months.
Normally, this would be a "resignation" entry, but I chose "graduation" because in my own way, I am proud of having "served" this company with a certain amount of confidence.

RTB House has more than 30 offices around the world, and the Japan team, which opened in 2018, was the slowest to open, but the growth rate was the highest in the world.
At the end of January, it was announced at the global  meeting of the managements layer and above to review the year 2020, and we were able to once again show the global presence of Japan.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of our customers, partners, and team members in the Japanese market. Thank you very much.

Looking back over the past three years, I would like to write down what I think is probably the most important thing in business. I hope it will be a good snack for you.

Introduction

First of all, humans are very greedy creatures.
You've probably felt it before. I am also very greedy for money.

However, when I look back on the success of RTBHouse, it was not because I worked hard, but because I was helped by the people around me and I was blessed with products.
People sometimes think that they have done so much by converting it to themselves.
Of course, this is very important in building self-confidence, and it is very necessary in certain phases of growth.
However, the people who are leading the business

I feel that it is essential to have a continuity of constantly discarding such things.

I feel that this is essential.

What was most important to me as a leader (1) Always produce results.

A leader must be trusted by the members. If a leader speaks without confidence or shows even the slightest sign of weakness, he or she will lose the trust of the members, and more importantly, the motivation of the entire team will be affected. This is true for the code of conduct as well.

Above all, show results.
Whether it's sales or the number of meetings with customers. I worked with the idea that I had to set an example in terms of overwhelming volume and be a constant source of inspiration. Although I left the field for the last year.
It is important to show that you are no match for that person in terms of the amount of action you take. If you work harder than anyone else, think about the future of the company more than anyone else, and are more customer-oriented than anyone else, you will surely be trusted by members and be able to make the best proposals to customers. To such people, customers will gather and subordinates will gather. This was my experience.

The most important thing I learned as a leader (2) Believe in your team members.

If you have subordinates in your team who cannot achieve, how do you manage them?
Is it really necessary to go that far? You should think about it as much as you can. There is always a switch in the motivation of that member. They may want to grow, or they may just not know how.
If they can't achieve it, it proves that your management skills are lacking. It is your duty as a leader to make sure that all members achieve at all costs.
If you spend one important year or one important month of your 40 years of working life with your team, when you look back on your life

When a member look back on his/her life, he/she will say, "I was happiest when I was on that person's team.
In 2020, I focused on this, and two of my team members were selected as the first and second place winners of the Global Top Sales.

What was most important to me as a leader (3) Burn your heart out.

There is no one cooler than someone who is constantly climbing mountains. Even after achieving a goal, a new goal (mountain) will always appear. Of course, it's good to bask in the afterglow of your accomplishment. However, you should immediately get up and start running toward your new goal. The world is made in such a way that wisdom gathers and wealth resides in those who look forward.

It's not easy to burn your heart out. But there is one easy way.

Approach a person whose heart is on fire. It's the same principle as a match, it burns on its own. lol I was always surrounded by senior people like that, and they were always close to me.

Why do you want to try again?

We only have one life.
Many people ask me, "Why do you challenge yourself again and again? I've been asked. I'd rather ask the opposite.

Why don't you try?

If you're not going to die, if you're worried about fame or position, I'm sure it's silly. You know exactly what you want.

Live as if you were to die tomorrow.
Learn as if you were to live forever.

You know what you really want in your heart, and as each day goes by, it gets smaller and smaller. We all know that it is cool to keep challenging ourselves.

Of course, challenges cause a lot of friction and maybe it won't work out.
Maybe sales won't go well.
Even so, if you work honestly and diligently, there will always be people who will support you.

What is important in JP Entry

It is to work harder than anyone else, and to be more greedy for your goals than anyone else.
For the first two years, I would come to the Meguro office at 6:00 a.m. and stay there until about midnight. After that, I would go home and work until about 2am. I also contributed to Markezine, but I think I was working more than 100 hours a week. When you're that passionate about something, you get a lot of ideas. It will take a few years for them to sprout, but I believe that the turning point is whether you can believe in them and work hard or not.

"How long should I work hard?"

"Just keep working hard until you succeed."
Good luck to all of you in your challenges.

In closing

I have decided to take on the challenge of setting up a Japanese company again next. I was contacted by many companies, and after thinking about it for a long time, I found a very good product and management team.

I'm always up for a challenge, so if you want to get your mind fired up, please feel free to contact me on Twitter or Facebook. Please contact me on Twitter or Facebook.
