今度はソルガムがバイオ燃料になるという話です。
バイオ燃料「ソルガム」に熱視線
火力発電のバイオ燃料としては普通は木質ペレットを使います。
出光興産が東京大学と連携して17種類のソルガムをオーストラリアで栽培して、バイオ燃料に適した品種を探すそうです。
ソルガムは乾燥に強い一年草で生育が早く、年3～4回収穫できるという点が木質ペレットよりも優れています。
アフリカでもソルガムを使った火力発電所ができるかもしれません。
