Forever Seeking Approval

People, regardless of age, always want to seek approval and show their sense of purpose to those around them. When living in the countryside, I often find myself working with elderly people. Until then, I had assumed that older individuals would entrust tasks to younger ones based on age alone. However, that perception was completely overturned.

People in the countryside are more active than those in urban areas?

I may be biased but people in the countryside often work hard. It's not an exaggeration, but there is an impression that there are relatively many individuals who can keep up with younger generations.

One reason for this could be the simple shortage of labor. With fewer people, there's a reliance on energetic elderly individuals. Some of them continue working even in their older age without retiring.

This is a common sight, but what personally surprised me is the idea that physical vitality may strongly influence mental well-being.

Approval-seeking ghost

There is also a tendency for older individuals in rural areas to unwillingly delegate tasks to younger people. Moreover, when they communicate among themselves, they might not convey information to the younger generation and prefer to handle things on their own.

I strongly think it would be better to delegate tasks because the average lifespan of Japanese men is around 81 years, and the uncertainty of the future prompts the idea of being prepared.

It's a moment when people, regardless of age, want to demonstrate their significance, suggesting that the desire for acknowledgment is a universal aspect of human nature.

Bye!
