体育系部活動で着た衣服の洗濯は自分でやっているのだろうか
今年の夏は暑かった。
体育会系の部活動をしている生徒たちのユニフォームや柔道着などは、すぐ汗まみれになっただろう。
こんな記事を読んだ。
私が1997年に三高の監督に就任した当時、寮にはまだ良くない伝統が残っていました。
夜11時ごろに洗濯場に行くと、下級生だけが夜更けに洗濯をしているのです。下級生たちは口を割りませんが、上級生から押しつけられていることは一目で分かりました。

翌日さっそく上級生全員を集めました。
「誰が洗濯を押しつけたんだ。下級生は俺に殴られても絶対にお前たちの名前を出さなかったんだぞ」
もちろん本当は殴っていませんが、下級生の立場もありますから、そんな風に問いただしました。すると上級生も申し訳なさそうに手を挙げるんです。「二度とするな」と叱ると、その伝統はなくなりました。
よく目の行き届く監督である。同じ日大でも、大学の部活動とは大違いだ。
理不尽な上下関係があるチームというのは、よく観察していると、すぐに分かります。簡単な見分け方は、練習着です。
ハイネックのアンダーシャツや、心地の良いメッシュのユニホームを着ているのは上級生だけ。下級生はゴワゴワした綿のユニホームを着ています。それが選手間で言い伝えられ、変な伝統になっているのです。
「高校野球での厳しさに耐えたから今の自分がある」と語るプロ選手もいます。私も現役時代に、先輩から理不尽に殴られるようなことがありました。
でも、私はそれは嫌だったし、絶対に間違っていると思います。
高校野球は世の中の厳しさに耐えるためのものではありません。理不尽な伝統は、大人が介入して「絶対だめだ」と教えない限り、なくなりません。
最近は、仕事をさぼっていることを公言する官房長官がいたり、事件から４年間何も考えていなかったのかと思わせる被告がいたり、顧客に詫びず無関係のゴルファーに謝る中古車販売会社の社長とかがいるので、まともな人がいるとほっとする。
このような立派な指導者が増えてほしい。
ところで、ユニフォームの洗濯に関して、「帯をギュッとね！」という、柔道漫画を思い出した。
この柔道部は、一年生の部員５人だけで、上級生がいない、新設の部である。だから上下の人間関係のあつれきはない。
その第１５０話に、余った部費を何に使うかで、部員たちがじゃんけんした結果、洗濯機を希望した女子マネージャが勝つシーンがあった。
新設の部なので、洗濯機が無く、女子マネージャは、男子部員の柔道着を洗濯板で洗っていた。当時は、これがごく一般的だったのだろうか。
「こんなのじゃなくて電気でグルグル回るのが欲しいの。」
この漫画が描かれた１９９２年当時、女子マネージャがいる高校柔道部は少なかっただろう。彼女たちの仕事の一つは、柔道着の洗濯だったのかもしれない。しかし、男たちの汗臭い柔道着を洗うのは楽しくないだろう。
上の洗濯機に「愛人号」と書かれているのは、当時のナショナルの洗濯機「愛妻号」のもじりである。

今読むと、こういう製品名に現れる時代背景が興味深い。

"Who ordered the underclassmen to do the laundry? Even when the underclassmen were beaten by me, they never mentioned the name of the person who ordered them."
Of course I wasn't actually violent, but I questioned them like that. The upperclassmen then raised their hands apologetically.
When I scolded them, "Don't do it again," that tradition disappeared.
He is a very attentive director. Even though they are related to Japan University, this is very different from university club activities.
If you closely observe a team with an unreasonable hierarchy, you can easily see it. An easy way to tell is by their practice clothes.
Only upperclassmen wear high-necked undershirts and comfortable mesh uniforms. Underclassmen wear stiff cotton uniforms. This is passed down between players and has become a strange tradition.
Some professional players say, ``I am who I am today because I endured the rigors of high school baseball.''
When I was a player, there were times when I was unreasonably beaten by my seniors.
But I didn't like that, and I think it's absolutely wrong.
High school baseball is not meant to withstand the harshness of the world. Unreasonable traditions won't go away unless adults intervene and teach them that it's a no-no.
Recently, there has been a Chief Cabinet Secretary who has publicly announced that he is skipping work, a defendant who makes you wonder what he was thinking in the four years since he committed the crime, and a president of a used car sales company who apologizes to unrelated golfers without apologizing to customers. I feel relieved when there are decent people out there. I wish there were more great leaders like him.
By the way, I am reminded of a judo manga that says, "Tighten your obi!" when it comes to washing uniforms.
This judo club is a newly established club with only five first-year members and no upperclassmen. Therefore, there are no conflicts between people in the upper and lower ranks. In the 150th episode, there was a scene where the club members played rock, paper, scissors to decide what to do with the extra club funds, and the female manager who requested a washing machine won.
Since it was a newly established club, there were no washing machines, so the female manager washed the male members' judo uniforms on a washboard. Was this very common at the time?
"I don't want something like this, I want something that spins around with electricity."
When this manga was drawn in 1992, there were probably very few high school judo clubs with female managers. One of their jobs may have been washing judo uniforms. However, washing men's sweaty judo uniforms is no fun.

Reading it now, the historical background that appears in product names like this is interesting.
