(解説)
この難解な曲は「仏に逢っては仏を斬る (臨済録)」の英訳 “If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him.” に想を得たと思われます。「真理に出逢うには、権威をもって迫ってくるものを否定せよ」という意味です。ボニーとクライドのように描かれていますが、実際にしているのは「真理を求める旅」です。「ギリシャのホテル」というのは、時をこえて、ソクラテスを想起させます。有名な学識者が、自己利益のために発言することに対して、二人は怒っています。そしてhalf-baked buddhas (悟りを開いたつもりの俄かブッダたち) に議論をふっかけ、一撃で論破してしまいます。そんな二人を取り込もうとする魔の手が…。果たして、真理を求め続けることができるのでしょうか？

(訳注)
①one-take Mission → It would take one shot to blow him away
②equipment from a dwarf → 鍛冶屋のドワーフから「武器」を受け取るようなイメージですが、さらに "職業的な知識" という意味もあります。
③Pond-Life beneath a Southern sky → pond life は、英国式の悪口です。二人は half-baked buddhas を捜して「南下」します。
④We know his name → 二人が追っているのは、どうやら著名人のようです。
⑤washed up → 見込みのない, 絶滅へと運命づけられる → つまり勝ち目がない
⑥crawl → half-baked buddhas は、防戦一方になっています。その様子を、地面を這う甲虫に例えています。
⑦once more → カネが話題になるのは、"They don't care as long as you can pay" というセリフにつづいて２度目です。
⑧Mark and Danny take the bus uptown → その後の二人の様子。著名人を論破した彼らは、言論人としての成功の切符を手にしました。金の誘惑にまけず、真理を目指せ！
