街に外国人観光客の姿が増えてきましたね。日本人にとっては当たり前の風景も、他の国から来た人にとっては珍しいことってたくさんあります。宿もその一つ。今回は日本の宿について。

３ 日本の宿

旅館

旅館は日本の伝統的な宿で、内部は伝統的な和風の設計がなされている。宿泊料金には朝食と夕食が含まれているのが普通である。多くの場合、畳の部屋に布団を敷いて寝る。また、多くの旅館が大浴場を持っており、客が温泉を楽しめるところもある。部屋には浴衣が備え付けられており、旅館の中では浴衣を着て過ごすこともできる。

Ryokan or Japanese style Inn
Ryokan is a traditional Japanese inn with the interior designed in the traditional Japanese style. The rates usually include breakfast and supper.
In general, the guests sleep in futon spread in the tatami room. Many ryokan have a big bath or hot spring bath where the guests can enjoy their bath time.
Yukata, easy-to-wear kimono, is equipped with each room and the guests can spend their time to relax wearing this yukata.

民宿

民宿とは宿泊施設を提供する民家のことを言う。民宿は保健所から許可を受けた小規模の宿である。客室はホテルほど広くないし、個別に風呂はないが、料金は比較的安い。

Minshuku
Minshuku is  a private home that offers overnight accommodations. Minshuku is basically a small inn, and as such it is certified by the public health office.
Although each guest room is not as big as the one in hotels and has no private bathroom, the rates are relatively reasonable. 

ビジネスホテル

ビジネスホテルはサービスを指定限に抑えた洋式のホテルであり、主に出張客を相手にするものであるが、観光客も多く利用する。このようなビジネスホテルは都市部多く、値段も比較的安い。無料の朝食を出すホテルもある。

Business Hotel
Business hotels are Wester-style, minimum service hotels that mainly, cater to people traveling on business, but they are popular among the tourists as well. Theses hotels are usually found in urban centers and are relatively cheap. Some hotels offer complimentary breakfast.

ペンション

ペンションとは料金が手頃なコンチネンタルスタイルの宿である。個人経営で、家庭的な雰囲気や家庭料理を提供する。このようなペンションは山中や湖畔のリゾート地に多い。

Pension 
Pensions are moderately-priced and continental-style inns. They are operated privately and offer a homely atmosphere and home cooking. Pensions are usually located in mountain and lake resort areas.

カプセルホテル

カプセルホテルとは最小限の宿泊施設を提供する宿である。部屋というよりは単なるカプセルから成り、普通のホテルよりかなり安価である。カプセルホテルの主な利用者は、仕事が忙しすぎて家に帰れなかったり、最終電車に乗り遅れたサラリーマンである。このようなスタイルの宿は外国にはなく、外国人観光客に人気である。

Capsule Hotel
Capsule hotels offer minimum overnight accommodations. Consisting of simple capsule rather than rooms, they are much cheaper than ordinary hotels. The main clients of capsule hotels are office workers who are too busy to go home or who missed the last train. As we cannot see this kind of accommodation abroad, it has been very popular among tourists from other countries.
