こんにちは、お久しぶりです。相も変わらずペーパーガイドのGerryです。

旅が好きな私は、日本各地を訪れています。唯一行ったことがないのが宮崎県。今まで縁がなくてまだ宮崎の地を踏んでいません。九州新幹線にも乗ってみたいので、いずれ九州旅行を計画しようかなと思ってます。でも、宮崎には九州新幹線通ってないですよね・・・。鹿児島から宮崎へ新幹線で移動できるといいのになぁ。

旧Twitterで知り合ったフォロワーさんが、最長片道きっぷの旅にでていらっしゃいました。北海道から九州まで、日本縦断の旅です。うわぁ、うらやましい・・・。

今回は日本の観光地の最終回です。

４ 日本の観光地

広島

広島は本州にあり、大阪から340kmほど西に位置している。この地は戦争で初めて原爆が使われた地として知られている。1945年8月6日、原爆が投下され20万人もの人が亡くなった。爆心地にある平和記念公園内には記念塔や新しくなった資料館や世界遺産である原爆ドームがある。戦後、広島は日本の大都市の一つへと発展を遂げた。

Hiroshima
Hiroshima is about 340km west of Osaka on the main island of Honshu. Hiroshima is noted as the site where the first atomic bomb was used in warfare. On 6th August 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped to kill more than 200 thousand citizens of Hiroshima. Within the Peace Memorial Park, located at the epicenter of the explosion, you can find memorials, a renewed museum and the Atomic Bomb Dome which is designated as the World Heritage Site.
Since the war, Hiroshima has grown into one of Japan's major cities.

長崎

長崎は何世紀にもわたって外国貿易において重要な役割を果たしてきた。鎖国の時代に限られた数の外国の貿易商にしか開かれていなかった数少ない港の中で最も重要なものであった。また、広島に次いで第2次世界大戦末期に原爆で破壊された２番目の都市となった。1945年8月9日、原爆が落とされ7万人以上の市民が亡くなった。

Nagasaki
Nagasaki has played a prominent role in foreign trade relations for many centuries and was the most important of only a few ports open to restricted numbers of foreign traders during Japan's period of isolation.
Nagasaki became the second city after Hiroshima to be destroyed by an atomic bomb toward the end of the WWII. On 9th August 1945, an atomic bomb was dropped to kill more than 70 thousand innocent citizens of Nagasaki.

鹿児島

鹿児島は九州の最南端にある大きな都市で、鹿児島県の県庁所在地である。
穏やかな気候、椰子の木が立ち並ぶ通り、鹿児島のヴェスヴィアス火山と言われる桜島のおかげで、この地はしばしばイタリアのナポリと比較される。
桜島は活火山で、今でも噴火を繰り返している。

Kagoshima
Kagoshima is Kyushu's southernmost major city and the capital of Kagoshima Prefecture. This city is often compared with its Italian sister city Naples due to a similarly mild climate, palm tree lined streets and Sakurajima, so-called Kagoshima's Vesuvius. Sakurajima is an active volcano, which frequently gives eruption.

沖縄

沖縄は第2次世界大戦後はアメリカの支配下にあったが、1972年5月15日に日本に返還された。今でも米軍の基地があり、基地の移転について今でも沖縄県と国が争っている。
2000年に沖縄サミットが開かれ、それを記念して2000円札が発行されたが、現在ではほぼ沖縄でしか流通していない。
温暖な気候と美しい海を求めて多くの観光客が沖縄を訪れている。

Okinawa
Okinawa had been under control of the US since the end of the WWII. On 15th May 1972, the US agreed to return Okinawa to Japan, leaving some military bases there. Okinawa is still in dispute with the Government over the relocation of the bases.
2000 yen bills were issued in commemoration of the Okinawa Summit which was held in Okinawa in 2000. However, these bills are currently used in only Okinawa.
Mild climate and beautiful sea attract a lot of tourists every year.
