【MeWSS論文コラム】 学会発表からのケースレポート論文　その１

　今回から2回くらいに渡って、学会発表した内容をケースレポートとして論文投稿するまでの流れと注意点を書いていきたいと思います。
　前回のコラムで、学会発表したものと同じ内容を論文発表しても、一般的には二重投稿にはならないと書きました。しかしこれは、雑誌によって考え方が変わります。さらに全ての雑誌がケースレポートを受け付けているわけではありません。適切な投稿雑誌を決めることはとても重要です。
　日本人患者さんのケースレポートだし、びっくりするほど珍しい症例でないのであれば、投稿先として最初に考えるのは日本の学会が発行する英文誌でしょう。では、ケースレポートを受け付けている学会公式英文誌はどのくらいあるのでしょうか？　一時学会誌が次々とケースレポートの受付を止めてしまった時期があり個人的にも心配していたので、今回改めてChatGPTに訊いてみました。手始めとして、そもそも臨床医が参加しているacademic societyが日本にいくつあるのかと質問してみたのですが、これに対しては「わからない」という答えが返ってきてしまいました。それでは会員数の多い順に大きな医学系学会を１０挙げて、と頼んだところ、順番は付けられないけれどとしながらも、主な学会のリストを作ってくれました。Here are ten prominent academic societies for physicians in Japan, listed in no particular order:
それぞれの学会でケースレポートを受け付けている英文雑誌を発行しているかを質問しましたが、あまり有用な回答は返ってきませんでした。日本語ジャーナルと英文誌とが混ざったリストになっていたのです。日本語ジャーナルであっても英文でHPにその概要が紹介されており、それらを拾ったのだと思います。いずれにしても全てこちらで確認しようと思っていたので、私の方で個別に学会HPを確認し、ケースレポートを掲載する英文学会誌があるかどうかを調べました。以下のリストはChatGPTが作成したもので英文もそれに付随した解説です。その後ろに、私が調べた結果を日本語で付け加えました。

  1. Japan Surgical Society (JSS): The Japan Surgical Society is one of the largest academic societies in Japan, representing surgeons across various surgical specialties.　英文official journalは「Surgery Today」がありますが、2015年に英文のOnline JournalCase Report誌「Surgical Case Reports」が発刊されImpact Factorもついたそうです。

  2. Japan Pediatric Society (JPS): The Japan Pediatric Society is a leading academic society for pediatricians in Japan, focusing on child health and pediatric medicine.　英文誌は「Pediatrics International」ですが、original articleとしてケースレポートは受け付けないと書かれていました。近いところとしては７００wordsまでのClinical Noteというカテゴリーがあるようですが詳細な報告やDiscussionは入れないようにとのことです。

  3. Japanese Society of Internal Medicine (JSIM): The Japanese Society of Internal Medicine is a major academic society representing internists and physicians specializing in internal medicine.　英文誌は「Internal Medicine」で、Case Reportはwelcomeと書かれてありました。

  4. Japan Diabetes Society (JDS): The Japan Diabetes Society is a prominent academic society dedicated to diabetes research, treatment, and education.　英文誌は「Diabetology International」で、ケースレポートも掲載している（”The journal also presents editorials, reviews, commentaries, reports of expert committees, and case reports on any aspect of diabetes.”）と書かれてありました。

  5. Japanese Circulation Society (JCS): The Japanese Circulation Society is a leading academic society focused on cardiovascular health, including cardiology and cardiac surgery.　英文誌は「Circulation Journal 」ですが、残念なことにケースレポートの受付はしていないようです。（”Circulation Journal ceased acceptingCase Reports from 31st October 2008.”）

  6. Japan College of Rheumatology (JCR): The Japan College of Rheumatology is an academic society specializing in rheumatology, representing rheumatologists and researchers in the field.　ケースレポート専門の英文オンラインジャーナル「Modern Rheumatology Case Reports」を発刊しており、IFもついているそうです。

  7. Japan Neurosurgical Society (JNS): The Japan Neurosurgical Society is a major academic society for neurosurgeons in Japan, focusing on neurosurgery research, education, and practice.　ケースレポート専門の英文オンラインジャーナル「NMC Case Report Journal (NMC CRJ)」を発行しています。

  8. Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists (JSA): The Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists is a prominent academic society representing anesthesiologists and professionals in the field of anesthesia and perioperative care.　「JA Clinical Reports」にてケースレポートを掲載しています。

  9. Japanese Society of Gastroenterology (JSGE): The Japanese Society of Gastroenterology is a leading academic society focused on gastroenterology and hepatology, representing physicians and researchers in these fields.　「Journal of Gastroenterology」はケースレポートを受け付けていないようですが、「Clinical Journal of Gastroenterology」にてケースレポートを掲載しています。

  10. Japan Radiological Society (JRS): The Japan Radiological Society is a major academic society representing radiologists and professionals in the field of radiology and diagnostic imaging.　公式英文誌は「Japanese Journal of Radiology」しか見当たらず、そのsubmission guidelineの掲載カテゴリーの中にケースレポートはありませんでした。

　以上まとめると、日本のメジャーな医学系学会の多くが公式英文誌にケースレポート専門のオープンアクセスジャーナルを持っており、今現在ケースレポートはかなり投稿しやすくなっている印象です。
　ChatGPTが挙げてくれた10学会のうち、循環器、小児科そして放射線はこのタイプのケースレポート英文誌を発行していないようですが、分野別の学会では出しているところがいくつかあります。例えば、Journal of Japanese Society of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery (JSPCCS)　や、Japanese Society for Pediatric Endocrinology (JSPE)発行の「Clinical Pediatric Endocrinology」でケースレポートを受け付けているようです。

　また、日本整形外科学会の「The Journal of Orthopaedic Science」ではケースレポートを掲載していませんが、これとは別に「JOS Case Reports」をもう一つのオープンアクセスOfficial Journalとして発行しています。

　学会誌以外でケースレポート専門誌もあります。有名なところでは「BMJ Case Reports」で、その他に「Clinical Case Reports」もあります。いずれもPubMed掲載されており、IFは前者が0.9、後者が0.7でした。

　学会発表を二重投稿と見るかについてざっと確認したところ、例えば「Surgical Case Reports」と「JA Clinical Reports」はSpringerOpenのポリシーに従っており下記の記載がありました。

Prior abstracts of up to 400 words and posters presented at, or published as part of, academic meetings do not preclude consideration for peer review of a full manuscript, as the full manuscript represents a formal advance to the citable scientific record. Published abstracts should be cited. Authors should be aware that many conference proceedings exceed the allowable word limit and constitute a citable form.


　「Internal Medicine」、Diabetology International」、「Modern Rheumatology Case Reports」、「NMC Case Report Journal (NMC CRJ)」、「Clinical Journal of Gastroenterology」、「JOS Case Reports」は、それぞれそのAuthor Instruction中に学会発表について言及はなく、ICMJEやCOPEのrecommendationに従うと記載されていました。
　投稿規程はかなり頻繁に変更されますので、投稿をお考えの場合は、事前にInstruction等を注意して確認してください。
