武田先生

#忘れられない先生

仮に武田先生と呼ぼう。小学3年の担任で30代後半。絶対たけちゃんとは呼べない、怖い先生だ。威厳があるという表現は、まだ知らなかった。

放課後、ランドセルを家に置いてから、友達と自転車で集まる。入ってはいけないと大人に言われている、機材置き場に潜り込んだ。

誰も人が来ない。
かっこいい、働く車も置いてある。
かくれんぼもおしゃべりもできる。

愉快な秘密基地。

ある日、機材が倒れてきて、友達が怪我をした。凄く血が出ている。
小学3年生でも分かる、大人を呼ばないとダメな怪我だ。
一番近いのは小学校。

学校へ自転車を飛ばす。先生達の通勤に使う車がまだある。
職員室に武田先生がいた。
叱られる怖さと、いてくれた安堵で、話す前から泣きそうになる。

「先生、大変、Aちゃんが怪我した！」

勇気を出すのは一瞬で済んだ。
武田先生はプロだから。
他の先生と連携し、保護者への連絡も、生徒を叱るのも、Aちゃんを小学校近くの病院へ連れて行くのも、魔法のように片付けてくれた。

残業になったろうに、先生達は誰も、悪ガキ達に感情をぶつけることはしなかった。

Aちゃんは、縫う怪我をしたけど輸血は不要だった。
僕らは秘密基地を選ぶ時に、禁止された場所には立ち入らないことを覚えた。
機材置き場は、子どもが怪我をしたからだろう、ひと月も経たず、整理され、駐車場になった。

今でも、武田先生をたけちゃんと呼ぶ勇気はない。
でも、怖い人と、信頼出来ない人と、近寄り難いけど頼りになる人の区別はつく大人になりましたよ、武田先生。

2024/02/27。言葉で画像生成するからDALL-Eは文芸でもあると僕は考えています。「childhood」がデイリーテーマなので、このエッセイをプロンプトに組み替えました。イラストのテイストに改善の余地はあります。けれど、素人の私のエッセイでも、DALL-Eで視覚的なイメージにするには十分な要素があります。
