Appreciate usual daily life

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred, I have had something daily; when I see my family off, I say, "Itterasshai!" "Have a good one!" in English, hoping to have a wonderful day and return home safely, and when they come back home, I say, "Okaerinasai!" "Welcome back home!" in English, appreciating to return to me safely.

This morning, I realized we were happy because we could sleep well in the thermal futon without fear and have a warm breakfast with my loved ones.

Twelve years ago, we spent the nights in the school gymnasium, the evacuation shelter.
At night, we could hear many emergency alarms everywhere in the darkness of the gym so many times.
Since most people had mobile phones, emergency alarms rang from their every phone when the aftershocks struck every time.
These made us give terrified.
At the same time, we couldn't stay thermal and couldn't eat warm meals.

Today, we shouldn't fear anymore and can stay comfortable and have a warm meal.
I'd like to appreciate our ordinary life, but we should remember we don't know when other disasters will happen.
