【読書】「雲母唐長 文様レターブック」トトアキヒコ／千田愛子
東京都庭園美術館で「源氏香図（げんじこうのず）」の文様を見て、徳川美術館で買ったこの本を思い出した。
厳密に言ったら「便箋の集まり」で、「本」ではない。画集が見るだけでいい本であるように、これも「見ている」だけで心洗われる美しい「本」だ。
それに「はじめに」と「おわりに」の文章が実に良い。心静かに、キチンと生きよう、自身から放たれる言葉を美しく保っていこうと噛み締める。
文様には、不思議な力があります。
「文字は呪能をもつ」とは、漢文学者・白川静さんの言葉です。「呪能」とは、文字が成立する時に人々が込めた力のことで、数千年の時を経た今も宿ります。文様の起源は、この文字の起源にも繫がり、人間の祈りや自然、神さまの物語が潜んでいます。
Patterns have amasing powers. The scholar of Chinese literature Shirakawa Shizuka has said that "in written characters there is JUNOU". JUNOU literally means something like "the power of a spell", and refers to the power with which human beings imbued written characters when they first devised them, a power that lives on even after thusands of years. The origins of patterns conect to the origins of written characters, and within patterns are concealed narrarives of human prayer, the natural world, and the gods.
この美しさは是非、この「本」を手にとって感じて欲しいのだが、色の美しさの一端だけでも共有を。
文様は、祈りの風景であり、色は心を動かす。
色は、時にそれだけで言葉や文様をこえて感情を動かすことができます。
色は、すなわち、光です。光は一定ではなく、見る人の心の有り様で随分と変わります。
人生において、色の感じ方が気分によって変わるとするならば、逆も然りです。身の回りの色や配色を変えることは、気分を変え、すなわち、人生を変えることにつながるかもしれません。
Patterns are the landscapes of our prayers, and colors cause our hearts to dance.
Sometimes color alone transcends words and pattersn to stir our emotions.
Color is , in a word, light. Light is not constand, but varies greatly depending on the viwer's mental condition.
If one of the truths of life is that the way we perceive colors depends on the way we feel, then the opposite is also true. Changing the hues and colors schemes around us can change our moods, and perhaps even our lives.
”色は心を動かす”、英訳が素晴らしい「colors cause our hearts to dance」だなんて。
