『サウンド・オブ・ミュージック』の裏側に迫る トラップ一家の真実の物語
こんにちは、皆さん。今日は私が最近読んだ本の感想を書きたいと思います。その本とは、マリア・フォン・トラップ著『サウンド・オブ・ミュージック トラップ一家の物語』というタイトルのものです。この本は、映画『サウンド・オブ・ミュージック』のモデルとなったマリアとフォン・トラップ一家の実話を描いた自伝です。映画は私も大好きで何度も観ましたが、本は初めて読みました。本には映画にはないエピソードや詳細がたくさん書かれていて、とても興味深かったです。
この本は前半と後半に分かれています。前半はオーストリアでの生活やナチスの台頭による亡命までを、後半はアメリカでの再出発や合唱団としての成功までを語っています。前半は映画とほぼ同じストーリーですが、細かい違いがあります。例えば、
• マリアは修道院ではなく教育大学に通っていたこと
• 男爵夫人は実際には存在しなかったこと
• フォン・トラップ男爵は金融恐慌で破産していたこと
• 家族が山越えでスイスに逃げたのではなく列車でイタリアに向かったこと
などです。
後半は映画には全く出てこない部分ですが、私はこちらの方が面白かったです。アメリカに渡った家族はゼロからのスタートでした。彼らは言葉も文化も違う土地で苦労しました。入国審査で引っかかったり、演奏会で客が入らなかったり、契約を破棄されたりしました。しかし、彼らは決してあきらめませんでした。彼らは歌うことで生きる力を得ました。彼らの歌声は多くの人々の心を動かしました。彼らは次第に名声を得て、全米や世界中で演奏旅行をしました。彼らは音楽を通して家族の絆を深めました。
この本の魅力は、マリアの人柄がよく表れていることだと思います。マリアは敬虔なクリスチャンでしたが、それだけではありませんでした。彼女は明るくユーモラスで積極的な女性でした。彼女は困難に直面しても笑顔を失わず、常に前向きに考えました。彼女は子供たちや夫に対しても愛情深く接しました。彼女は自分の信念や価値観をしっかり持っていました。この本では、マリアの素直で率直な言葉が読者に語りかけます。

The true story of the Trapp family behind "The Sound of Music"
Hello everyone. Today I would like to write about my impressions of a book I read recently. The book is titled ``The Sound of Music: The Story of Her Trapp Family'' by Maria von Trapp. This book is an autobiography that tells the true story of Maria and the von Trapp family, who were the inspiration for the movie The Sound of Music. I love the movie and have seen it many times, but this is the first time I have read the book. The book had a lot of anecdotes and details that weren't in the movie, so it was very interesting.
This book is divided into the first half and the second half. The first half tells of his life in Austria and his exile due to the rise of the Nazis, and the second half tells of his restart in America and his success as a choir. The story for the first half is almost the same as the movie, but there are some minor differences. for example,
• That Mary attended a pedagogical college rather than a convent.
• That the Baroness never actually existed.
• Baron von Trapp was bankrupt due to the financial crisis.
• The family did not flee over the mountains to Switzerland, but by train to Italy.
Etc.
The second half doesn't appear in the movie at all, but I found it more interesting. The family that moved to America started from scratch. They struggled in a land with a different language and culture. I was stopped at immigration, I wasn't allowed in at a concert, and my contract was canceled. But they never gave up. They gained the strength to live through singing. Their singing voices touched the hearts of many people. They gradually gained fame and toured throughout the United States and around the world. They bonded as a family through music.
I think the appeal of this book is that Maria's personality is well expressed. Mary was a devout Christian, but she was much more than that. She was a bright, humorous and active woman. She never lost her smile even in the face of difficulties and she always thought positively. She was also loving towards her children and her husband. She was firm in her beliefs and values. In this book, Maria's honest and frank words speak to the reader.
The translator of this book is Yumiko Taniguchi. She faithfully and plainly translates Mary's words. She also annotates her terminology and cultural background. This is very helpful for readers. I read this book and was deeply moved by the story of Maria and the von Trapp family. They always thought and acted positively in turbulent times. They found happiness through the love of their family and the power of music. This book tells us about their true lives.
