April 29, 2024: Hainshin Tigers, Defence （阪神タイガース、守備力）
It has been a month since the start of the 2024 Professional Baseball League. My favourite, the Hanshin Tigers, has played 30 games for now. It is not in as good shape as the last season because of their batting slump. Nevertheless, it keeps the top spot in the league. It has several reasons to keep the top spot. First, it has extremely good pitching. It has not only good starters, but it also has very good relievers and closers. In particular, the newcomer, Javier Guerra from Panama, has performed extremely well and helped his colleague, Masaru Iwazaki. Second, it has three very good infielders, Seiya Kinami, Takumu Nakano and Yusuke Oyama, who have prevented the team from losing runs.
It was in the game against another team, DENA Baystars, on 24 April that I saw the good pitching and defence. It was an impressive game in a lot of rain. With losing only 3 runs, the starter, Masashi Ito, showed a good pitch in the heavy rain. While he was pitching, Takumu and Yusuka showed their strong defences. Their defences helped Masashi prevent from losing additional runs. The reliever, Takuma Kirishiki, also performed remarkably and lost no runs in the heavy rain. As a result, the strong pitching and defence allowed the team to turn the game in the 9th inning, and the team got the win.
So far, I am happy to see the team getting a lot of wins and staying at the top spot. This season, I have to watch the games with pounding my heart and having stabbing pains in my stomach. It is because the offence has not yet shown any sign of improvement. Teruaki Sato, in particular, has been a big headache on the offence. In the game of 24 April, he was struck out three times in a row and failed to do a team batting to score a run in the 9th inning. I slightly expect him to show a marked improvement soon.
2024年プロ野球リーグが開幕して1ヶ月が経ちました。ボクのお気に入りの阪神タイガースは、30試合を消化しました。でも、打撃不振で、昨シーズンほど調子は良くないです。それでもリーグで首位にいます。その理由は、いつくかあります。まず、投手力が非常に優れています。先発投手だけでなく、リリーフやクローザーも非常に優秀です。特に、パナマから新加入したゲラ選手が非常に素晴らしく、岩崎選手を助けています。つぎに、木浪、中野と大山の３選手のすばらしい内野守備です。彼らの素晴らしい守備で、チームは失点を防げています。
素晴らしい投手力と守備力を目の当たりにしたのは、4月24日の対ベイスターズ戦でした。雨の中での試合でしたが、とても印象に残りました。先発の伊藤投手は大雨の中、わずか3失点の好投でした。伊藤投手が投げている間に、中野選手と大山選手が鉄壁の守備力を見せてくれました。この守備のおかげで、伊藤投手は追加点を奪われずにすみました。そしてリリーフの桐敷投手も、大雨の中、無失点という素晴らしいパフォーマンスを見せてくれました。結果的に、素晴らしい投手力と守備力のおかげで９回に試合をひっくり返すことができ、チームは勝利を手にしました。
今のところ、チームが勝ち星を重ね、首位をキープしてくれています。でも、今シーズンは、心臓をバクバクさせ、胃をきりきりといわせながら、試合を見なければなりません。打線に改善の兆しが見えないからです。特に佐藤選手が攻撃のブレーキになっています。４月24日の試合でも、3連続三振に倒れ、9回には得点を入れるためのチームバッティングもできませんでした。すぐに大きく変わってくれると、少しばかり期待しています。
