1.The trigger: Second Renovation

In the first renovation of Mr. and Mrs. M’s apartment, the floor plan was reconfigured surrounding the kitchen and dining as “Food” was the focus for them where they had a well-equipped kitchen surrounded by a spacious living and dining space. The kitchen was strategically separated from the living and dining space by using different floor materials yet still connected as one big space.
Considering moving to a new place, they came to blue studio for another renovation consultation.

2.Real estate hunting: From suburb to the city center

As their lifestyle changed, they decided to move to the city center closer to their workplace, and we spent about a year searching for their ideal apartment.
Moving out of a comfortable apartment that was renovated into a blue-toned Scandinavian-style interior, they wanted a new living space where all the rooms are in different colors, and where they can watch the tv from every corner of the apartment.

3.Renovation: Compact and efficient

To create a spacious space in the more compact new apartment, the kitchen was planned to be attached to one side of the wall, leaving the remaining space for living and dining.
Also, the walk-in closet, bathroom, and storage space were all planned in a way that they can be accessed easily from the kitchen. A relatively large washing basin was placed that could be used by 2 at the same time, and the workspace was kept where it was while connecting to the enlarged new bedroom.
Overall, the layout was designed so that the space could be used more efficiently and comfortably.

4. Completion: Fun and colorful home

In response to Mr. and Mrs. M’ request, different colors were used in each of the spaces. Additionally, various patterns and materials were also integrated into the spaces to make them more fun and playful. The furniture was also carefully selected and designed in creating a simple yet cozy overseas apartment-like space.

5.New life: A colorful lifestyle

The apartment has turned out playful and interesting with the use of various colors which was well thought out and examined. African tiles in the kitchen, plants hanging on the windowsill, artwork on the walls, and colorful curtains were all well balanced out creating an exotic atmosphere to the apartment.
