今回は near と by の違いをネイティブに聞いてみました！

【Question】
Is there a difference between these two options?🤔

1) I live near the station.

2) I live by the station.

この2つの選択肢に違いはありますか?🤔

① イギリス人の感覚🇬🇧
same meaning  i live by station means you live more close to it
【同じ意味で、i live by stationは、あなたはもっと近くに住んでいます。】

② イギリス人の感覚🇬🇧
Very similar, but:
By = literally next to/opposite the station
Near = not necessarily next to the station, but within easy reach
【よく似ているが
By = 文字通り駅の隣／反対側
Near = 駅の隣とは限らないが、すぐ行ける距離。】

③ アメリカ人の感覚🇺🇸
In my opinion, these are the same, but some people may say it’s different…

By the station = next to it, super close.
Near the station = in the area, kind of close
【私見では、これらは同じだと思うが、人によっては違うと言うかもしれない...。

駅のそば＝駅の隣、超近い。
駅の近く＝その辺にある、ちょっと近い】
