DeepLとGoogle翻訳を使って、同じ文章を翻訳すると違いが生まれるのか試して、改めて気づいたこと

おはようございます。フラミンゴの金村です。今日も英語を勉強している方に向けたブログ投稿をしていきます。今日は、タイトルのとおり、同じ日本語の文章を翻訳してみると違うが生まれるのか試してみて、その結果気づいたことをシェアできればと思います。結論、「AIは素晴らしいので、うまく使えるようになると良くて、AIにやさしいライティング技術を身につけるとお得だよ」という話をしています。

というのも、先日このようなツイートをすると思った以上の方にリアクションいただけたので、こういったテーマが気になられているのではと思ったわけです。

AIが自動翻訳・通訳してくれるから英語を学ぶのって意味ないかもって悩んでる人に伝えたいこと。

「コードを書かなくても色々できるようになる未来でも、プログラミングが得意なほうが良さそう」と同じ話で、「翻訳や通訳をほぼAIで解決する未来でも、英語勉強しておいたほうが良さそう」です。

翻訳の対象とする文章について

今回、翻訳の対象とする文章は２パターン用意します。短いものと長いものを用意してみました。どちらも、今日のYahoo! ニューストップに掲載されている西武ライオンズ松坂大輔投手に関するニュースを使わせていただきました。

◯短いもの
西武の松坂大輔投手が開幕ローテーションから外れることが決定的なことが2日、分かった。現時点では開幕前の1軍練習試合の登板予定はないとみられる。

・驚いたのは、「松坂大輔投手が開幕ローテーションから外れることが決定的なことが2日、分かった」を"Daisuke Matsuzaka will be out of the opening rotation." というように助動詞の"will"を使って言い表していることです。シンプルになっていてすごいですよね。

・以下のような「〜と〇〇さんが言いました」という文章をはじめとする高度な文章についてはDeepLが圧倒的に高い精度で翻訳しています。
