ワインのボトルに使うコルクを回収して家具やおもちゃに作り変えている会社があります。GOOD DEAL COMPANYという会社です。TOKYO CORK PROJECTというコルクをリサイクルする活動をしています。
約600のレストランや酒屋さんに協力してもらい、コルクの回収ボックスを置いてもらっています。コルクを回収してから、コルクを洗ったり、くだいたりしてから家具やおもちゃをつくっています。
大量に廃棄されていたものを別のものに作り変えて循環させているということは素晴らしいことです。
でも、私は次の考え方に一層興味を持ちました。
リサイクルをしやすくするために、メーカーが使い終わったあとのことも考えて製品をデザインする必要がある。このように考えて不要になったら簡単に分解して素材ごとに分別できるようにしているそうです。
