【SS】門番

それはそれは立派な門であった。

絵にも描けないほど立派だった。
つい入ってみたくなるのだった。

「いらっしゃいませ」
高過ぎず低過ぎず、じつに感じの良い声だった。

「お待ちしておりました」

おそらく門番とでも呼ぶのだろう。
その男に家まで案内された。

意外に狭い庭である。
家も小さかった。

玄関を抜け、居間らしき部屋に入る。
そこで主人と対面した。

「つい入ってしまいました」
「そうでしょう、そうでしょう」

この主人とは初対面であった。

「私を待っていたそうですが」
「話し相手が欲しくてね」

幸せそうな笑顔の老人である。

「それにしても、立派な門ですね」
「そうでしょう、そうでしょう」

「不思議な門と申しますか」

老人の笑顔はそのままであった。
「あれは、あとで建てたんですよ」

「あと、と言いますと？」
「あの門番を雇ったあとですよ」

そう言えば、好感の持てる男だった。
「なるほど。確かに立派な門番でしたね」

「そうでしょう、そうでしょう」
「そうですね、そうですね」

もうなにも話すことがないのだった。

A Gatekeeper

That was a fine gate.

It was as wonderful as anyone could draw on painting.
It was about wanting to enter.

"Welcome."
It was not too high, it was not too low,
it was quite a felt voice.

"I was waiting for you"

Perhaps he calls it a gatekeeper.
The man was guided to the house.

Surprisingly it is a narrow garden.
The house was small, too.

Pass through the entrance and enter the room
where the living room feels like.

I met the Lord of this house there.

"I have just entered."
"Yes, I guess so,"

It was the first meeting with this Lord.

"It seems that you waited for me."
"I want a partner to talk to."

He is an old man with a happy smile.

"Even so, it is an excellent gate."
"Yes, I guess so."

"It seems like to say that it is a mysterious gate."

The old man's smile remained.
"That was built after that."

"After you say?"
"After hiring that gatekeeper."

Well surely, he was a favorable man.
"Well, it certainly was a fine gatekeeper."

"Yes, I guess so."
"Well, I see."

There was nothing to talk about any more.
