【SS】諦めなさい

私はピコモラゲを抱えて審査会場に向かった。

準備に三年、制作に丸一年かけた苦心の作である。
トータルの費用も相当なものになった。

革新的な発想、大胆かつ精緻な構造、有益性と娯楽性、
あらゆる観点において歴史的な大傑作。

自惚れても当然であろう。

審査会場は混雑していた。

このコンクールは世界中が注目しており　
年々規模が拡大し、応募者数も急激に増えている。

しかし、最終的に注目されるのは私に違いない。

そんなふうに私は希望に燃えたまま作品受付の列に並び　
書類と一緒にピコモラゲを提出したのだった。

と、その時、受付担当者が手を滑らせ　
ピコモラゲが大理石の床に落ちた。

････割れてしまった。
ピコモラゲが真っ二つに割れてしまった。

「ああ。これは駄目ですね。審査基準を満たしません。
　こんなに簡単に破損してしまうようでは」

受付担当者は割れたピコモラゲを床から拾い上げ　
それを私の目の前に差し出した。

「残念ですが、受理できません」

私は笑った。

なんで笑えたのか、私にもわからないが　
広い審査会場が私の笑い声で溢れんばかりになった。

この笑い声で、他の応募作品も全部　
なにもかも世界中が壊れてしまえばいいのに。

私は割れたピコモラゲをぴったり重ね合せ　
非常用の緊急作動スイッチを押した。

もしピコモラゲの機能がまだ壊れていないとしたら　
きっと私の人格が壊れてしまったのだろう。

それは決して押してはならないスイッチのはずなのだから。
