ミラノ郊外の15階建てのアパートで大規模な火災が発生し、複数の消防隊や救急車が現場に駆けつけています。

現地時間の日曜日午後5時45分に火災が発生して以来、消防隊員は住民を探すためにドアを叩き続けています。

地元紙「Il Messaggero」によると、このブロック内には約70家族が住んでいると見られています。火災発生時に建物内にいた人の数はまだ不明です。

捜索の初期段階では死者は出ていないという。

炎はタワーの上層階から始まり、下層階に広がっていったと考えられています。

ミラノ南部のアントニーニ通りに建つ住宅タワーの被覆材から瓦礫が落ちていく様子が、ソーシャルメディアで公開されています。

数百人の住民や野次馬が下の通りに残っており、ビルからは濃い黒煙の柱が上がり続けています。

住民は地元紙「コリエール」に、「建物を覆っているパネルは耐火性があると聞いていたが、実際にはバターのようにすぐに燃えてしまった」と語っています。

ミラノ市長のジュゼッペ・サラ氏は、「今のところ、犠牲者や負傷者の報告はありません」と述べています。

「犠牲者や負傷者の報告は今のところありませんが、人々が脱出する時間があったことから、我々は楽観的に考えています」と述べています。

A major fire has engulfed a 15-storey apartment building on the outskirts of Milan, sending multiple fire brigades and ambulances to the scene.

Firefighters have been knocking down doors in search of residents since the fire broke out at 5.45pm local time on Sunday.

Around 70 families are thought to live inside the block, according to local newspaper Il Messaggero. The number of people present in the building when the blaze broke out is still uncertain.

No fatalities have been reported in the early hours of the search.

The blaze is understood to have started on the upper floors of the tower before spreading to the lower levels.

Video footage shared on social media showed debris falling off the cladding of the residential tower in Via Antonini in the south of Milan.

Hundreds of residents and onlookers remain on the street below, while a dense column of black smoke continues to rise from the building.

“We were told that the panels that covered the building were fireproof, instead, they burned quickly like butter,” a resident told local paper Corriere.

“For now we have no reports of victims or injured”, said Giuseppe Sala, the Mayor of Milan.

“But we are optimistic because people had time to get out,” he added.
