Preface(序文)

 About forty years have passed since the inception of Tamori Club. Time flies.
 This week the program "for the sophisticated people" comes to its end. 

タモリ倶楽部が始まってから、およそ40年が経ちました。時が経つのは早いですね。今週、「洗練された人々のための番組」は終わりをむかえます。
 
 Tamori Club is based upon the "Korede-iinoda" philosophy, that is, "I accept all events that have happened as totally good ones". In this sense, Tamori Club has neither the past nor the present nor the future. 

タモリ倶楽部は「これでいいのだ」という哲学を基調としています。言い換えれば、「私は起こった出来事はすべて良かったこととして受け入れる」ということです。この意味において、タモリ倶楽部には、過去も現在も未来もないのです。
 
 On the surface, Tamori Club seems to be useless or meaningless. But I like it all the better for its uselessness and meaninglessness. I have never watched the program without laughing. It always both alleviates my mental pain and lessens my mental burden. 

表面上、タモリ倶楽部は役に立つようにも、意味があるようにも見えません。しかしながら、私は、役に立たないこと、あるいは意味のないことのために、よりいっそうタモリ倶楽部が好きなのです。私は笑うことなしにこの番組を見たことがありません。いつも私の心のいたみを和らげ、かつ精神的な重荷を軽くしてくれます。

 "Who started the rumor I don't know, however, I absolutely listen to this song like this." 
「誰が言ったか知らないが、言われてみれば確かに聞こえる」

 With the spread of Covid 19, I have seldom had the opportunities to watch Soramimi Hour (literally "the Sky Ear Hour" in Japanese). 

Covid19が拡がったことで、空耳アワーを見ることがほとんどなくなりました。

 What makes me happy when I watch Tamori Club I am not quite sure. But when I heard this program would soon come to its end, I felt as the age of television had completely ended. But by no means does this mean the demise of Tamori-san. Although I feel sad, I want to see off the program with a deep love for it. 

タモリ倶楽部を見ると何故気持ちが明るくなるのか、私にもハッキリした理由はわかりません。しかし、タモリ倶楽部がまもなく終了すると聞いたとき、テレビの時代は完全に終わったかのように感じました。しかしこれは、タモリさんがいなくなってしまうことを断じて意味するものではありません。悲しいことではありますが、私は深い愛を込めて、この番組の終了を見届けたいと思っています。

 Last but not least, if you are a Japanese at all, you also must watch the last moment of Tamori Club's, for I strongly believe that, like it or not, you must have seen your own personal history in line with the program. 

最後になってしまいましたが、いやしくもあなたが日本人であるならば、あなたもタモリ倶楽部の最後の瞬間を目撃しなければなりません。というのは、好む好まざるを問わず、あなたは自らの歴史をこの番組と重ね合わせて見てきたに違いないと、私は強く信じるからです。
