バックアップについて | About the Backup

僕は2000年前後からイラストやデザインの仕事をはじめました。
結構まめに整理してファイルは保存しています。なので20年分以上のデータが溜まっているわけです。
Adobeとoffice、web系のデータ主ですが20年以上となるとそこそこデータはあります。
今日は現在僕が行っているバックアップ方法について書きたいと思います。

僕のメインマシンとサブマシンはクラウドサービスを介してほぼクローンの状態で同期されています。
なのでメインマシンが駄目になってもサブマシンやクラウドサービスから最新の状態で復旧が可能です。
しかしクラウドサービスに異常があった場合は安全とは言えないですね。

その為、定期的にTime Machineでバックアップもとります。そうする事で期間を指定しての復旧も出来ます。
しかしMacのシステム自体がやられていた場合には安全とは言えないですね。

なので最後に手動で重要なファイルについてはHDDに直接バックアップを作成しています。
これでMacのシステムが壊れていても重要ファイルだけはどうにかなります。

とはいえ全てを残し続ける訳にもいかないのでクライアントワークのデータは5年位を目処に重要度の低いファイルは整理しています。

ここまでしなくても良いのかもしれませんが、基本ファイルの置き場とコピー作業だけなので仕事が一区切りした時にやっています。
そのおかげでファイルを失うというトラブルは今までありませんでした。

そんなこんなで今日はメインマシンをmacOS Big Surにアップデートしています。

I started working in illustration and design around 2000.
I've been organizing and saving my files quite frequently. But I have more than 20 years worth of data.
It's mainly Adobe, office, and web data, but if it's over 20 years, there's a lot of data.
Today, I would like to write about my current backup method.

My main machine and sub-machine are almost cloned and synchronized via a cloud service.
So even if my main machine goes down, I can recover the latest version from the sub-machine or the cloud service.
However, if there is a problem with the cloud service, it is not safe to say.

For this reason, I use Time Machine to back up my data periodically. By doing so, it is possible to specify a period of time for recovery.
However, if the Mac system itself is damaged, it is not safe to say that.

Finally, I manually create a backup of important files directly to my HDD.
This way, even if the Mac system is broken, only the important files will be safe.

However, I can't keep everything, so I've been sorting out the less important files of client work for about five years.

I probably don't have to go this far, but I do it when I have a break in my work because it's just a matter of organizing where the files are and copying them.
Thanks to this, I haven't had any trouble losing files so far.

So today I'm updating my main machine to macOS Big Sur.
