Director Makoto Shinkai: ``I never expected to hold such a large-scale exhibition in Shanghai.''

``The Sparrow'', which was released in China in March, became a huge hit, attracting more than 23 million viewers and becoming the highest-grossing Japanese animated film in history.

The exhibition, which starts on the 22nd in Shanghai, will display valuable original drawings by director Shinkai.

The exhibition will be held until February 2024.
