cumbersome

やっかいな、じゃまな
awkward because of being large, heavy, or not effective
ex) Critics say that the process for amending the Constitution is cumbersome, but others defend it.

動詞cumberは「to obstruct or hinder(妨害する)」。イギリスの俳優 Benedict Cumberbatch のcumberはComberbachというイングランドの地名からきているそうです。

粉砕する、粉々にする
to treat someone so badly for such a long time that they are no longer able to fight back:
ex) Ground down by years of abuse, she did not have the confidence to leave him.

anarchy

無政府状態
a situation in which there is no organization and control, especially in society, because there is no effective government:
ex) The country has been in a state of anarchy since the inconclusive election.
