横浜市で小児医療費無償化が開始：2023年8月1日（火）

本日から，横浜市で，所得制限等をなくして，中学3年生までの小児医療費（保険診療の自己負担額）の無償化が始まった。年間112億円の財政支出を見込んでいるという。横浜市における少子化対策の一環とされている。山中竹春（元横浜市立大学医学部教授）横浜市長ならではの医療政策である。同氏がデータサイエンティストであることから，無償化政策の費用対効果に関する分析に基づいた政策実施であるのだろうと推察している。

Free Pediatric Medical Care Starts in Yokohama City：August 1st(Tuesday)

Starting today, Yokohama City has begun providing free pediatric medical care (co-payment for insurance-covered medical treatments) for children up to the third year of junior high school, without income restrictions. It is estimated to result in an annual expenditure of 11.2 billion yen. This is part of Yokohama City's measures to address declining birth rates. The policy is unique to Yokohama City's Mayor, Takeharu Yamanaka (former professor at Yokohama City University School of Medicine), and is believed to be based on a cost-benefit analysis of the free medical care policy, given his background as a data scientist.
