なんでEqual?/Why Equal?

はじめましてEqualメンバーの矢野玲那です🌷
まずは自己紹介します！
APU1回生の大阪出身です。
韓国文化が大好きで、好きなアイドルはEXOとBLACKPINKです。
最近は焼肉にハマってます！おいしいです😬
今回は私のお話をしたいと思います。
少しお付き合い下さい😌
🏳️🌈ジェンダーに関心を持ったきっかけ🏳️🌈
私は高校生の頃から性別と恋愛について考えていました。恋愛と性別は関係ないものだと考えていたのですが、周りの友人からは｢え〜、じゃあバイ？｣(バイ…バイセクシュアルの略、男女のどちらにも性愛感情が向く性のあり方、両性愛)と言われて、違和感を感じていました。
その時、性別を考えて好きになるわけではなく、単に好きになった人が男の子だった、女の子だったということだと思っていました。
こういったことに名前を当てはめられることで特殊というレッテルを貼られているみたいだと感じました。
📖Equalに入って📖
APUに入学後、授業で先輩と関わる機会がたくさんありました。そこで、ある先輩がジェンダーについて勉強していますと言っているのを聞いて、ジェンダーについて勉強するという選択肢も得ました。
そこでAPU代表のゆかさんとお話させて頂き、Equalをしりました！
Equalに入ってから、ジェンダー問題というのはセクシュアリティだけでなく、男女格差の問題や、女性の性被害、日常から見つけられるジェンダー問題にも気づくことが出来きました。
まだまだEqualメンバーとして気づくことが出来ていないジェンダー問題がまだまだあります。今後もEqualの活動を通して新しい発見をしていきたいと思っています！Equalメンバーとして活動するようになって、いつかジェンダー問題のせいで生きづらいと思っている方たちのためにお仕事できたらいいなと考えて出しました！
これを読んでいるAPU生の方でジェンダー問題に少しでも関心のある方がいたら、ぜひEqualが開催しているジェンダーカフェなどのイベントに参加して見てください！今まで気づけなかったことに気づいたり、色んな人の考え方を知ることができると思います🙃

First off, I would like to introduce myself!
I’m from Osaka and currently a freshman at APU.
I love Korean culture and my favorite idols are EXO and BLACKPINK.
Recently I’ve been addicted to Yakiniku! It’s super good 😬
This time I would like to talk about my experience.

🏳️🌈 The start of my interest in gender topics 🏳️🌈
I have been thinking about gender and romance since I was in high school. I thought that romance and gender had nothing to do with each other, but as my friends around me told me that ‘Ehh, are you bi?’ (Bi, as in Bisexual, refers to being attracted by both men and women), I started to feel uneasy.
How I felt at the time is that, I would not consider the gender of the person before I decided that I am attracted to them..it's like, the person I liked also happened to be a guy or a girl.
I felt that by applying names to such things, it suddenly becomes labeled as peculiar.
📖 Joining Equal 📖
After enrolling in APU, I had many chances to talk with my seniors in classes. So when I heard from a senpai that they were studying about gender, I also chose to study about the topic too.
Then I talked with Yuka - our current Equal representative, and entered Equal!
Since I joined Equal, I have been able to be more informed about gender issues, not only topics about sexualities, but also other topics like gender disparity, female sexual abuse, and other gender issues that can be seen in everyday life.
I think that as an Equal member, there are still many more gender issues that I haven’t acknowledged. I would like to continue making new discoveries through Equal’s activities! Currently working as an Equal member, I figured it would be amazing if I could someday find a job that aims at improving the lives of those who suffer from gender issues!
If you are an APU student reading this and are interested in gender issues, please make sure to try joining Equal’s events such as our Gender Cafes! I think you can definitely discover things you've never noticed before and get to understand other peoples’ way of thinking 🙃
