An Interview of Scientist developed A-bomb

The American atomic bomb development plan, the so-called Manhattan Project, was organized and started operating during World War II. Dr. Robert Christie, one of the scientists developed the atomic bomb, said in a TV interview  in 1998.

"The scientists team was just calculating how to maximize the "shock wave" for destruction. Didn't know the effects of Heat Ray and Radiation

In other words, for the purpose of dropping the atomic bomb, developers have been promoting development with the goal of creating the maximum blast. Therefore, even after the atomic bomb was completed, the developers did not know much about the effects of heat rays and radiation. Only after they heard the actual situations of the disasters in Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the atomic bombing, the scientists were surprised that the damage of heat rays and radiation, which was beyond the developers' imagination.

My opinion:

 As one of doctors, I thank for Dr.Christie made a brave statement. Cruelty sometimes may be hidden inside of us, humans. But if we recognize the existence of our weakness and cruelty, we could control ourselves. That must be a key for keeping "peace" .

Even if the reason for dropping the atomic bomb was to end the war early,
Even if there was a purpose to show off one's power to the world by using the atomic bomb for the first time in the world,
it is the fact that an unknown weapon is used without knowing what kind of result it will bring. 

If we humans had the latest technology that may have a possibility to harm other people, can we control ourselves to save someone?

 Can we humans control the reckless driving of our own desires?

I, as one of doctors, believe that scientists (including doctors) and politicians should not work if they cannot control their desire. 

My Opinion:   Nobody can ignore there would be the human cruelty, which was hiding under curiosity and greed. However, it is important to know this is about my country, your country, about all nations and humans on the planet. I believe we can keep peace, if we know our weakness. I would like to try may best to keep peace for the future with my American friends, South American friends, Australian friends, New zealand friends, African friends, European friends, Asian friends, the Middle East friends, Arctic and Antarctic friends, islands' friends, and all the people of the earth.
