皮肉にさらされた子どもは、鈍い良心のもちぬしとなる。
しかし、激励をうけた子どもは、自信をおぼえる。
寛容にであった子どもは、忍耐をおぼえる。
賞賛をうけた子どもは、評価することをおぼえる。
フェアプレーを経験した子どもは、公正をおぼえる。
友情を知る子どもは、親切をおぼえる。
安心を経験した子どもは、信頼をおぼえる。
可愛がられ抱きしめられた子どもは、世界中の愛情を感じとることをおぼえる。

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with violence, they learn to fight.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to be silent.
If children live with sarcasm, they learn to be indiscreet.
However, if children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn to appreciate.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with friendship, they learn kindness.
If children live with peace of mind, they learn trust.
