(Interview: January 2020)

There are many migrant workers in Malaysia, from neighbouring Asian countries (e.g Indonesia, Nepal, Bangladesh... etc.)
This time I interviewed Mr Mir Rashedul Hossain, who works to create a healthcare platform for the Migrant people around the world.

Introduction

This is Mr Rashedul Hossain, co-founder of ClicknCare the first-ever migrant digital healthcare platform.

Mr Hossain is strong in the fields of Economics and business development. He was a country manager of Bangladesh at MicroEnsure (insurance company).
In 2009, he studied at the Stockholm School of Economics and received a Diploma in the Executive Management Program.

More info about Mr Hossain-LinkedIn

(The other founder, Mr Abu Hasnat Mohammad Sultanur Reza was in Bangladesh at the time of the interview, so I couldn't get to meet him.)

ClicknCare's main idea is to make it easy for Migrant of any country to find his/her local doctors with whom they can discuss without any barriers.
It was built so that Migrants can talk to their doctor anywhere and in any language. It also provides consultation and medicines at a reasonable price.

Why was ClicknCare Created?

Reason 1: to support Migrant workers working and living far from hospitals

Migrant workers need to work, and the primary reason they leave their home country is to work and send money back to their families back home.
Therefore, many workers try to spend as little money as possible, cutting down on food, quality accommodation and quality healthcare.

Unlike Japan, there aren't as many convenient, reliable clinics/hospitals and they are not as widespread in Malaysia. For some, the nearest clinic may be very far away.
Imagine you're a migrant, you wake up and feel feverish, but it takes time to go to the hospital, taking a leave may decrease income.
To make matters worse, going to the hospital costs money, meeting a physical doctor and buying prescribed medicine costs around 80-250rm on average. Would you go to the hospital?
Many workers push themselves to the limit even if they feel sick.

Reason 2: to break down the barrier between doctors and patients

Describing health in a foreign language is very tough, so that may prevent them from consulting a doctor. This is the reason why we developed ClicknCare.

Currently, we are focusing on giving the service to workers from Bangladesh, but we hope to expand the service in various languages.

Workers using ClicknCare

How do you use Clickncare?

It is easy to use Clickncare as we know that 80% of the migrant workers have a phone. Clickncare is a progressive app, therefore workers who don't know how to download apps from the app store can simply go to ou website, give us a call, and someone from our side will direct them to a link that will give them the app.

Once the patient has the app, the consultant on the phone will speak to the patient and direct them to the needed doctor and booking.

Next time the patient is sick, he or she can just go to the app, find a doctor and consult them about their symptoms without having a consultant in between.

How much does the service cost?

Right now, the payment is free. We are hoping to connect it to mobile wallets and partner with shops and cards.

How will the patient get medicine?

The patient can go to one of our partner shops around their home and buy medicine from the store. But this will only work when our business becomes more well known and partnered with various stores.

The hardest challenge is awareness, we go to clusters of migrant communities and provide free check-ups through physical doctors to get more people to know more about ClicknCare.
